Learning different languages is one such practice which has brought the world closer.  Apart from the regional languages and the commonly spoken language which is English, there are a number of foreign languages which one can learn and master.

There are various courses to learn foreign languages but the best way to learn is as a child in the school.  Undoubtedly there is no age for learning and you can do it when you want but as a child, if you get the right exposure and your school is advanced enough to offer you the opportunity to learn various foreign languages it can be the best.  There are various reasons why children should learn foreign languages.

It’s easier to acquire foreign languages as a child:

A child is the best learner.  They tend to learn different languages with ease.  Also, once you learn one foreign language it becomes easier to learn others.  Therefore children within their learning span, have an opportunity to learn various foreign languages which will help them tremendously in today’s times of globalization.

It boosts empathy:

Children in multilingual environments have a variety of social experiences that enable them to consider the perspective of others.  They have to think about who speaks which language to whom, who understands which content, and the times and places in which different languages are spoken.  This thought process helps them in appreciating the perspective of others.

It boosts cross-cultural understanding:

With 7 billion people living on the only known inhabited planet in the universe, it’s important we get along.  Language and culture are so intertwined that learning a foreign language both builds cultural understanding provides deep insights into how other people see the world and helps foster a global culture.

It helps train a child’s ear for music:

The better a child understands various languages the more he/she will be able to enjoy different kinds of music.  They would understand the lyrics, know the rhythm and enjoy the melody transcending all geographical barrier.

It boosts career opportunities:

You can not only get access to a wide range of higher degree courses and colleges but also with the foreign language in your resume, you get better job opportunities and also a major salary boost.

It makes travel more fun:

International travel is an amazing way to broaden one’s horizons and experience the diversity and beauty of the world.  Being able to speak the language of the country one is visiting unlocks the possibility of forging deeper bonds of understanding.  Putting their languages skills to use in “real life” can also be a motivation booster for kids.

It can increase out of the box thinking:

Learning a foreign language helps children see the world through different lenses.  The ability to consider multiple viewpoints to a problem is the cornerstone of creative problem-solving.

These are just a few of the many reasons why learning a foreign language is a must for kids and how it helps them grow into more confident individuals.

How to Manage the Study Time?

Studying is much more than passing exams and improving grades. Learning and understanding concepts and information is something more important. However, a lot of students consider studying as a burden. Who can blame them when the academic race is such?

Studying definitely requires a lot of hard work. In order to achieve more, one has to study and explore more. Time management skill matters a lot over here.

What happens if you follow a schedule?

Following a well-planned schedule helps in meeting the timeline. With the proper allocation of time, one would never miss on opportunities to participate in other activities apart from school work for the overall development of the mind and body. A balanced lifestyle is a necessity for everyone.

Planning is easy but the implementation is tough. A strong will and a comfortable plan is the key. Don’t have huge goals and tasks which demotivates you to follow the plan. Start with easy steps to success.

Ingredients for a well-planned schedule:

  1. Create a To-do list.

Noting down the important things to be done on the basis of priority is an important thing. Doing this would always help you in finishing your work before the deadline. In case you forget anything you can go through that list and can get the data and start working on it.

  1. Come up with a daily schedule.

The daily schedule is necessary as not all days are same. So in order to maintain a balance among all the daily activities, scheduling is necessary. By doing so one would always get sufficient time to do school work and also relax, play and socialize with friends.

  1. Refrain from procrastinating.

Not following a planned schedule is of no use. Successes do not come to procrastinators. Children and their parents should always be in coordination with one another.  School work should always be done on time without any distractions. If one faces problem in studying alone, so indulging in group studies with studious students can be a good option.

  1. Take a quick run between study schedules.

In order to avoid losing focus one should always have a look at the planned schedule at regular intervals to refocus. This will help in sticking to the schedule without diverting from it.

  1. Continue to reassess your schedule and make adjustments if necessary.

Proper evaluation of plan would always be helpful and advantageous for a student. Check your daily schedule and see if any changes are required or not. In case of any spontaneous activity like family functions, sports event, weddings etc. schedule can be adjusted accordingly. But one should avoid doing it too often or else it would give a reason not to follow the schedule.

Schooling is an amazing journey for every child. The journey makes you strong and builds your personality, it’s not just about games and plays but students have to adjust themselves according to the changing syllabus, submitting assignments on time, participating in school activities, presenting innovative ideas to be in the race, etc. Student and their parents should always keep in mind that success always depends on the individual capability. Let your child explore, grow and succeed.

Bond with Your Kids – Parent-Child Bonding!

Parenting isn’t a practice, it’s a daily learning experience and in this journey, you need to be much calmer, composed, patient and giving than ever before. Every parent fights lot many odds to give the best to their child. They try their best to offer their kids a comfortable home, healthy lifestyle and the best education so that they become a successful personality tomorrow. In doing so much for their kids, they tend to miss on something very important, their bond with their child. A parent-child bond is an essential for healthy parenting and a joyful childhood. In becoming responsible parents and arranging everything to the best of their ability at times parents forget to spend time with their child, become friends with them and enjoy their company.

The problem starts with, Is he/she lying?
Was he/she hiding something?
She/he is immature and will again do silly mistakes?

Many such questions hover you continuously and finally, you end up making healthy parenting a nightmare. So, here we get some simple solutions for your complex problem which surely must be bothering you till now. They sound simple but prove to be the best solution for you to enjoy your relationship with your kids.

Trust Me!

As parents, we are sensible enough to understand the importance of ‘Trust’ in every relationship. Then why do we tend to forget this principle when it comes to our kids? Why is always a doubt lingering when he/she asks to go out with friends? Why are you always sceptical in giving them permissions? Why do wrong thoughts and vague situations pop up in your head when they are out with friends? You do care which is an obvious reply but somewhere that care has taken the shape of doubt and raised a question on your trust? You don’t trust them when left alone with friends; you don’t trust their answers and start taking them as excuses. Stop doubting your kids and start trusting them, your trust would be a stepping stone in creating a friendly bond between you and your child.

Let’s Be Friends!

Any relation when starts with friendship last the longest be that friend to your child. Be their secret keeper and plan some fun together, you will enter their friend zone and come much closer. Being parents you are the closest to your child but when you will be their friends you won’t have to spy or keep a check on them, they will share their troubles and fears with you. Your relationship with them will grow to the next level.

Forget & Forgive

We all are humans and we tend to do mistakes, and so will your kids do. Being in the age group they are in, they will end up doing some mistakes but as parents, we need to forget them and move on without any baggage. Their past mistake should not govern their present or future, your decisions should not have a sense of fear because they did a mistake in past. We do mistakes, we improvise and we move ahead that’s the law of nature. As parents we are concerned but let the concern not remind them of their past mistakes. Don’t bring it up every time in the argument and make them feel bad, it was a mistake in the past let that be in the past.

It’s 21st Century – Fashion Matters!

Parents often don’t understand or misunderstand fashion, it’s nothing harmful or destructive, it’s something we should know and follow to stay tuned with the time. We send our kids to good schools and raise them well in the society, we expect them to be fast learners and smart personalities then why don’t we accept their fashion. We can definitely guide them and tell them where they go wrong but to say no to everything just because you think fashion is wrong is not justified. Accept the changing scenarios and your kids changing with them; guide them when they go wrong but with acceptance.

As parents take the first step and invite your kids to be your friends. You will love their company and they will love yours just hit the right track and start off now.

Integrating art into the classroom

Art is the basic expression of the human mind and the creative reflection of the world we live in. Today we have realised that art has to be incorporated to make the learning process more interesting. Arts being integrated into the curriculum will prove beneficial for both the child as well as teachers in long run. As this century demands more of experiential learning than traditional learning as it makes children enjoy their subjects. Though we cannot move away from the fact that traditional learning is still the backbone of our educational system. Teachers are incorporating arts into the curriculum; they are increasingly integrating arts into the core subject areas. Art has the power to engage children in experiential learning so that children can learn more through the experience of their activity.

It should be promoted as stand-alone subjects as well as a cross curricular subject in all schools.

There are a couple of programmes which are designed to help arts integrate well into the classroom.

The Children Programmes plays a pivotal role as this is majorly designed to involve and inspire children. We need to start by encouraging children to participate and get involved in speaking like elocutions, extempore, debates. Even vocabulary can play a great role as having great word power works like an asset during delivering a speech or even during writing a script or content.

We must indulge children into art work like preparing collage on the topic they have studied. The artwork could illustrate anything related to their subjects. Through this artwork, it would help them explore their areas of interest and even help them understand their subject.

Encourage children to participate in drama. Asking them to involve in role playing as through this they would be able to understand a story character or event.

Involving children in activities like brochure, posture or advertisement making which help them with graphic skills and creative thinking.

Lastly, we must introduce children to artistic works that match their curriculum. Mythology and ancient stories throughout the century have inspired sculptures.

Teachers must be aware of various cultures across the globe including our nation. They must explore and be able to inculcate this amongst children. Art is an integral part so it cannot be skipped. Art must be appreciated by all.  Teachers should even come up with ideas, thoughts to improve art skills, so that children are able to understand the value and have a constant view of improving their art skills. As we move towards the century where arts will play a major role, let’s incorporate art into the teaching methodology.
